A rushhour incident around 5:50pm closed the northbound a483 Wrexham bypass this evening. The incident is now over, but caused tailbacks for several miles. All cars have now been removed and the police have finished clearing the no reopened road.

An eyewitness who wished to stay anonymous told us “A young girl in a black car got clipped on the back corner, it spun her round then got hit in the front. Her car bonnet was crushed on the right side. 3 other cars were involved. Two cars not involved pulled up to help the young girl”.

The incident which occurred between J4 (Coedpoeth) and J5 (Mold Road) – Northbound – is reported to have involve several vehicles, two eyewitnesses saying they saw up to 7 cars stopped on the road.

Nathan Hosie who was sat in a traffic jam on the scene in traffic told us “5 police cars, 2 fire engines and 2 doctor cars have gone past”.

There were reports one person was trapped in a vehicle. Two people were taken to the Maelor but not with serious injuries.

Jane Wrench said at 7pm “I was stuck for about 45 mins on a483 could only see three cars when we went past”.

“Cars were pretty smashed up facing wrong way. The ambulance had left the scene”.

Traffic was slowly being allowed to clear through from around 6:45pm.

Dan Taylor tweeted the picture above from the scene as he was stuck in traffic.

(This was a live report started at 6.08pm)
