35 jobs have been lost after a Wrexham based construction firm folded.

Barnhill Construction based on the Five Crosses Industrial Estate in Minera entered administration at the start of this month.

However, administrators Grant Thornton said that the they were unable to rescue the business which has now ceased trading with the loss of 35 jobs.

Barnhill’s collapse has been blamed on the downturn in the construction sector.

The company, which was established in 1991, mainly took on building and civil engineering projects of up to £5m in value and also had a steel fabrication division.

Their clients included Kellogs, Cadbury’s, Hanson Cement and John Sisk.
