19 Year Old From Coedpoeth Arrested On Suspicion Of Conspiracy To Commit Murder

A local teenager has been arrested in connection with an incident in Castlefields in Oswestry last weekend in which a man sustained serious stab wounds.

West Mercia Police said last night: “A 19 year-old man from Coedpoeth, Wrexham has been arrested on 27th January on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and remains in police custody.”

One man, not from Wrexham, has been charged in relation to the incident.

Police say: “Luke Cross, aged 22, of Mount View, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands was charged today with one count of conspiracy to commit murder, one count of threats to kill and one count of threat to cause criminal damage.”

Cross, who was arrested yesterday, appeared at Shrewsbury Magistrates’ Court today (28 January) and was further remanded to appear at Shrewsbury Crown Court on Monday, 1 February 2016.

Investigating officer, Detective Inspector Mark Jones of West Mercia Police said:

“We are again appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time or who feels that they have any information relevant to this investigation to come forward.”

UPDATE: There has been further arrests – An 18-year-old man from Wrexham was arrested today (Friday 29, January 2016) and a 51-year-old man from Welshpool was arrested yesterday (Thursday, 28 January 2016) on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder, they remain in police custody at this time.

The 19-year-old man from Wrexham (believed to be the person in the above original article) has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Inspector Mark Jones from West Mercia Police said: “Although three arrests and one charge have been made as part of our investigation, we would still like to hear from anyone who may have information which could assist us.
