wxmParticipantWhat is the total square footage occupied by WCBC, and any entity it controls or has a controlling interest in, by virtue of ownership of influence of contracts?
This could be split into:
Education for teaching purposes
Care of the elderly and vulnerable
Social services and essential interventions
Highways and transportion
Other
wxmParticipantI know someone who might, will ask.
wxmParticipantWe need to start a new party “Democratic unpaid Councillor for Care and Prosperity”. There should be enough people to stand who only want to meet once a week (most would give up Saturday or Sunday). That would also mean officers could get on with their jobs, rather than spending time with 50 councillors, should make Saturday meetings swift as well.

wxmParticipantIt wouldn’t cost anything. A mutual of stall holders rents it. And then uses the surplus (currently a couple of hundred thousand a year) to reinvest in the success of the markets. As it grows, the businesses get more to reinvest, the success drives more business, and the ratepayers get rates from 100% occupancy, we get the goods we need at the prices we like to pay, and our friends and neighbours get employed.
wxmParticipantWhy do we pay an interest charge of 15.3% on PFI? When we all pay 5% interest on our mortgages?
We pay £32m on environmental, regulatory and planning services. We only pay £14m on highways and transport services. Do we need to spend all this money, and are we spending it in the right places?
What is the difference between Central Service to the Public £2.46m, and Cultural and Related Services £19.368m?
What are Corporate and Democratic Core Services at £3.54m.
The sum of £5.6m has been put aside for the Equal Pay initiative. Why did we not get this right in the first place?
The members allowance is £1m?
The CEO is on half the previous salary, should we not be realistic with administration costs like this right across Wrexham? We can save some money, and put the rest into looking after those in need and the elderly.

The financial statements make some interesting reading. While we properly look at councillors remuneration, what is happening against the whole human resource cost? The accounts mention a payment to the Clwyd Pension Fund for £17.8m. While obligations may have been made decades ago, the financial black hole that appeared in society in 2008 means we all have to bear the consequences. Wouldn’t that £17.8m be better spent in the Wrexham community?
wxmParticipantI would put 5 or 10 thousand into a shop or market stall with others to start with. We would need critical mass / footfall of the number of shoppers to make it work, and those shoppers would need to want to come into Wrexham, and want to keep coming back. The right rent in the right place, and the right rates, say for 3 years, would get it started? Along with the right product.
wxmParticipantGreat to see this road in place after 30 years of talking about it. Forgetting the past, how are we going to make the Ind Estate great!?! We are still in an excellent location for companies to take advantage of, we’ve got some of the biggies, and with Deeside Ind Park up the road doing so well, perhaps Wrexham can become an icon for manufacturing and business again?
wxmParticipantCouncillors like any other walk of life can decline to be paid. What value is added to our lives, our care, and the economy?
Why don’t they meet once a week and get their civic duties done, and then earn their money in work the rest of the week as we all do. We all do voluntary work one way or another.

wxmParticipantIt seems we always talk about the council. Why don’t we take them out of the frame, and create a “Stall Holders Mutual” so that they can plough the surpluses back in to promoting the markets, and providing better services. It would take a few years for the market to regain the reputation they use to have, but instead of paying the council to debate a 3 year plan, traders could get on and do it!
