The MonitorParticipantYIPPEE???? So you are one of the people who like the history of Wrexham being destroyed?????
Why not raze every building in Wrexham that was not built in the past 20 years to satisfy the greed
and idiocy of many local planning decisions. Why indeed not let the space provided be used for
another Prison…. or may be a large Gypsy encampment…. or maybe .. a base for fracking.Yipppee … for F’s sake… get educated… get a life..
The MonitorParticipantI agree the prison no one wanted … only the
planning committee persuaded councillors ..
If South Wales had wanted it .. it would not have
been directed to wrexham (lower case deliberate).Might I suggest … ‘BANGED UP’ :)

The MonitorParticipantWell it may cause the Supermarkets to put up their prices. For once a good thing. They can then start to use food prices as a ‘LOSS LEADER’ attraction.
It is high time that this problem was addressed.
I would add, I drink regularly. I drink in the evening and never in the day. I never buy cheap booze from the supermarkets. They have seized upon a market they should have kept out of.
Good on the WAG to get things right this time…….. BUT I wonder what the set price per unit will be to make a difference.
Hmmmm
The MonitorParticipantWrexham has already been ‘branded’. Branded without any consultation with the electorate or public in any form.
Wrexham? Oh of course … that is where the biggest PRISON in the United Kingdom is. Now that is branding for you. *cough*…
The MonitorParticipantFrankly, the whole exercise is a mishmash of ill thought out ideas with little or no thought to consequences.
The most significant revelation that has come from this exercise is that there is a total lack of consideration given to democracy and the democratic process.
This action should not be happening without A REFERENDUM OF THE WHOLE ELECTORATE in Wales.
The MonitorParticipantFewer Councils means ultimately Less Democracy.
This present assault on democratic representation
is another example of the lack of
competence and intelligence in WAG. It also shows
no real concern for North Wales. The red line should be drawn when Democracy is
under subversion or outright attack.
The MonitorParticipant7.00pm No5 Wrexham to LLangollen did not arrive again. I was at the bus stop in Johnstown 10 minutes before its promised arrival time of 19.06. I expected that it would be late as usual (it is practically impossible to get a bus from King Street in Wrexham to the Johnstown stop in 6 mins). At 19.40 it had still not arrived meaning I had to book a taxi. GHA want to get their act together and start performing to contract (their contract with the public). I have never come across such an inadequate service before.
Perhaps the people of Wrexham and surrounding villages and towns should start a record of the failures of GHA. Maybe it could be done on here and be visible to all.
The MonitorParticipant
Its becoming a micky mouse council run by mugwumps (bottom feeders) what with everthing that now seems to be going on behind close doors.
Democracy at work not in this council it would seem.
I agree … suggestion … take a note of your councillor’s name, where he or she holds surgeries (if they do) and then tackle them on the subject of democracy in the way wrexham council operates and how they ‘consult’ with the electorate that fund there excessive remuneration. Then let us all report back here and maybe get rid of the undemocratic dead wood totalitarian misfits on the ‘council’. I think it is time for a peoples revolt … a revolt of the electorate. Rather this than a silent or whining ‘let them get on with it’ attitude. What do you all say?
The MonitorParticipant
The headline item on Wrexham.com has highlighted yet a again the erosion of democracy on Wrexham Council. Although the current vote at meetings is always predicted as 7;3 in future it will be straight 10 for all decisions.
The current system of over 50% of reports going straight to the Executive Board means that there is no debate or scrutiny and all – the proposed new system may have a value if proper pre Executive Scrutiny takes place.
I note the new system will cost more – as there is no chance for a proper challenge then you may as well just have mini meetings behind closed doors.
Citizens of Wrexham deserve better – come on Council Members – Wednesday gives you the chance to decide are you a Council Member to represent your electorate or prop up a completely non democratic process.
I agree… how about starting a movement amongst all councillors to get rid of the ‘executive board’ and bring back a semblance of democracy to the political landscape of Wales? Today’s set up is not only undemocratic, it is wasteful, non representative of the electorate, and to be blunt .. a farce!
The MonitorParticipant
If they were doing this for democratic reasons
1) they should have asked public would they attend meetings if moved to day time (hughly unlikly provoded they are all on the web)
2) Cost savings – this is a red herring as pointed out basic maths shows increased expenditure shows a net cost?
3) Unless they change the method of voting so that ALL Council Members vote on any topic then it will make no difference and all reports will go through on the nod.
4) What function will non Executive Members have other than keeping the seats warm!Bring back free vutes for all Members who should vote the way their electorate would want them to rather than their respective Political Party or Group.
I totally agree. Get rid of the Executive board (cabinet) and let ALL councillors have an equal vote with equal power. This may increase attendance and it will certainly increase the democracy of the whole process.
