MattParticipantThe larger grey caddies are meant to be stored outside with all food waste kept in the biodegradable green bags. They are collected weekly rather than fortnightly. As long as all your food waste is kept sealed within each bag and the grey bin is kept closed – usually things aren’t too bad even in midsummer. I find that my black bin ends up stinking more during a fortnight and even if food is plastic bagged – things like mice will try to get at it – especially if your bin is overfull and the lid isn’t going down properly.
MattParticipantThere’s now a 30+ comment thread on my local facebook group as people are expressing dismay in terms of not knowing where to put their food waste after seeing these stickers today. Some people have even called the council angrily for advice.
Other people joking about how they use their grey food caddy for alternative uses – such as a handy bucket for washing the car.
Also seems people putting excess recycling into the black bin when their recycling box/trolley gets full. Unaware that you can provide additional sorted cardboard/plastic or glass bottles in other containers roadside and it will still be collected regardless of what it is contained in.
MattParticipantGenerally the same level of nostalgia/optimism being bandied round Red Passion and other internet outlets of Wrexhamites.
MattParticipantBut I said:
MattParticipant
It makes me laugh over the North South divide in our own country.
I think sporting events where we get to bash the English collectively is one of the few things that does unite the Welsh and get rid of the North South divide.
MattParticipantI’ve got a good hypothetical question – on this occasion the Home Secretary was ‘fortunate’ enough to identify that the girl in question has some kind of Bangladeshi heritage and was able to use that as an excuse to make them not-British.
What would happen in a situation where a person who was with ISIS in this situation was British through and through – regardless of ethnicity – e.g. they were 100% Welsh, English, Scottish or Northern Irish?
There would be no choice but to bring them home – obviously to face the British Judicial system – yet they would still be considered as unwelcome, unwanted and as high level a security risk as Begum. There have been people talking of not wanting to waste taxpayers money on putting her to trial and into prison if found guilty.
This wanting to rid the country of undesirables in my opinion actually shows a huge weakness to the UK – say someone was actually an ISIS Fighter, they’d killed people in combat – and they were British born and then captured and needed to face trial. Surely we’d want to throw the full weight of British law upon them to show that terrorism cannot be tolerated in any form. To just release people to probably escape justice by allowing them to receive sympathy by making them stateless – just empowers and shows people that there is no punishment in Britain for being a/or consorting with terrorists. You just won’t be able to come back home – but you will be able to go and live in a terrorist friendly country (believe me – ISIS haven’t been beaten – they’ve just gone underground) and then regroup with your other terrorist mates and just start plotting again.
It just seems pathetic to me that we’re more interested in a country in locking up loads of (comparatively) soft criminals in Category B and C prisons with short slap on the wrist sentences than we are in really cracking on those creating terror overseas or in the streets. It still amuses to this day how we’ve never been able to effectively deal with terrorists either if they are involved in sectarian violence – like during the Troubles – or have been involved in something overseas.
MattParticipantBrian Flynn is a massive local hero and will inspire both players and the fans alike. Somewhat underwhelming response to think it could be a bad move at this point. He will no doubt give the inexperienced Bryan Hughes some great pointers and his positive reputation & links with other clubs & managers will hopefully help Wrexham secure a few promising players on loan from higher level league clubs in the near future.
MattParticipantBrian Flynn’s Red Army! – Let’s re-open the Kop.
MattParticipantI must confess I had to do some Googling to find out what you were referring to – fascinating past Wrexham has.
Pubs these days seem dull in comparison.
Someone actually had a picture of the cockle man up on Twitter – so not sure if accurate:
Love this bit about the Raglan from Wrexham History.
The Raglan Arms had a certain reputation that’s for sure with some of the many regulars being referred to as ‘The Barmy Raglan Army’. In the early 1980’s it was reputed to have the best Jukebox of any of the Wrexham pubs of that time.
Then there’s an outstanding photo from the Regent Tavern of the bar and one of its landlords Griff Robinson
MattParticipantLet them have the money this year and then we can do a graph with all the Councillors attendance – a bit like at school. Then we can name and shame the ones with the biggest unauthorised absence levels. Maybe send the wag man round or threaten their parents with a fine for non-attendance.
Of course there can then be a slacker of the month award or they get labelled ‘wage waster’.
Biggest slacker at the end of the year has to pay for everyone’s parking.
