It was known to mean cloak or cover according to someone involved in the investigation. I knew this long before I did this post. The link I found yesterday here

    myEtymology.com: Portuguese etymology of palial

Was the online version of what I had heard from various sources.

Palial is the new investigation/re-investigation into historic sexual abuse in north Wales, it is not limited to care homes and is being run by officers from forces outside of north Wales. Some survivors I have spoke to are confident they are doing a thorough job, others aren’t.

Interestingly, the etymology of Palial is this:

Etymology of the Portuguese word palial

derived from the Latin word pallium (cloak; cover, coverlet; Greek cloak)

This has raised a few eyebrows with survivors …

Thanks for that article WD, not one I had read before. I am in touch with Keith about all this.

But i must say, the suggestion that Howarth is innocent made my blood boil. I have a friend who still bears scars from that man.

The councils are not deliberating releasing Jillings. They have been advised not to by NWP or Palial as it could jeopardize Palial. Nice and convenient for the councils who have been passing the buck since Clwyd was no more.

Palial and the Macur Review are both due to report on the 29th of this month.

I am not holding my breath though, but at least after Palial has reported we can start pressing for Jillings.

This is not going away this time ….

There will be more Wayne, I am cautious about saying what, when and where publicly for obvious reasons.

As you can tell, I’m new to the organising side, but have gained a lot of experience and tips from the people I have been speaking to in the last week.

We will pick when and where to voice our concerns a bit more strategically in the future.

Just joined to say, the BT site may not lie, but I personally have trouble with any large company that doesn’t do things like check spelling. Fibre will defiantly be in our area, indeed, it definitely make me act defiantly towards BT if its not here soon.

Will give them a ring today as it seems to change on who you speak to, as usual, a farce, or should that be fierce?
