i have a question…if you are Independent how do we the voters know what your going to deliver for Wrexham should you get in. So what is your manifesto….education, social care, town centre etc. Because it is important for us all. The leaflets will be interesting to read. Will they focus on local ward issues only or actually expand to the borough? Interesting.

Thing is….to stand as an true Independent means you can stand up for your ward…but how much influence you get when getting things done?? And ward work is only a part of a Councillors role. Major decisions on the budget for the whole of Wrexham, education, social care etc etc need to be sorted. Hence why in my opinion Independents will always group. I agree with you though…an Independent means You are standing on your beliefs etc. If the council was made up of all true independents then no decisions would ever be made using the current model. Anyone with a better understanding please put me right though.

This is one of the reasons I always vote for a party. One who’s principles meet as close as possible to mine. And I don’t look at National Politics, just on what they stand for locally. So I look for manifesto’s so that I can judge what they deliver. But that’s me…everyone is different.

Dylan…..I agree with what you posted. They need to be clear on what their principles are and what they stand for. But as you state they did not call by elections to allow their wards to make the choice so does show a lack of principles on their part.

We all could see why they defected…it was clear…well to me anyway. A vote was carried out over Splash and keeping it open but the 10 defectors spat their dummies out. So showed a complete lack of democracy. This to me shows that this ruling lot are not interested in debate and democracy…but it’s our way or the highway regardless of whether it is right or wrong.

To the poster who asked can an Independent be truly independent? If part of a group…no not unless that group allows free votes…..which from the outside looking in they don’t. But can a true Independent affect change on their own? Looking at the webcasts and the way votes are taken by the executive board ….no. When it comes to the budget vote at the full council meetings…..yes certainly as its all 52 Councillors. That my understanding …..being an interested bystander I may be wrong. I want a group or individual who stands on their beliefs but who puts their beliefs second to that of their electorate. I have a great Councillor and hope they remain. But how many in Wrexham can say the same?

Interesting Nen…..it’s only through questions will we get the answers.

Personally think that we need exclusion zones. They have them in Merseyside and other areas where town centres, transport hubs have a zero tolerance areas for anti social behaviour whether that is alcohol, drugs etc. Our Town Centre needs to made a welcoming place not one where the first impression is one of a troubled, bleak town. A lot of onus is on the police who need to clamp down and show a presence.

The local authority needs to establish by laws and enforce them. It’s not just the transport hub it’s the green outside the guildhall, it’s seems to be anywhere and everywhere in the town centre. This administration seem oblivious to the problem and ill equipped to come up with a solution. I disagree with the ….don’t vote for the incumbent Councillor as there are quite a few who are passionate and good people. I think they are just poorly led by an executive board who are officer led and devoid of any ideas.

I personally could not be a Councillor….love my job too much. But am interested in the inner workings. I don’t get how everyone thinks being a Councillor is a high paid job and with all the criticism that they get….I’m guilty of it….don’t see the attraction of being shot to pieces for that salary.

Nailing my colours to the mast.

I hope for the following result
Labour 18
Independents ( Pritchards group) 11
Independent (Bithells group) 8
Conservatives 5
Lib Dems 5
Plaid 4

Hopefully we have a Labour, Lib Dem, Plaid coalition with Councillor Dana Davies leading. Just like the way she challenges.

Why? Because I see this as an alternative to the current administration and watching the webcasts it seems to me that the Labour lot are the only ones questioning and challenging. Will Mark Pritchard earn his seat this time, will those Councillors who left the Labour lot over Splash Magic earn the wrath of the electorate? Will the turn out be low? Soo many variables…..but its exiting.
While the idea sound great would it be a good start if the £300 k promised last August by mr skates to help with local bus services came good ,some rural areas are still out on a limb
Independents cut post16 travel but now mentions bus services. It’s about time this council steps up to the plate and stops blaming everybody else. Nice to hear from the silent members of the council though. Election coming up Cllr Pemberton? The webcasts reveal a lot….don’t you think?

Totally agree. This has been going on far too long now. But with the limited resources that Police have it seems things can only get worse.

I have a lot of respect for Arfon the Police and Crime commissioner but what difference is he making?

Looks like Cllr Davies is on the mark. Good work by Wrexham.com in looking into this. Interesting that it was Cllr Pritchard who increased the contract with PWC. His antics On the webcast the other day just show how devious people can be. The sooner he is out the better. I hope for a Labour, Lib Dem, Plaid coalition but do the rest of Wrexham want it? Just have to wait and see. Just need to see past the National politics.

Surely it is what we expect from our Councillors… provide ideas and alternatives and not to have them discarded out of hand??

Charging for parking? A no brainer, why should they not pay?
Charging for IPads….read what they have put in the notes underneath about up to each authority whether to charge. Not sure what Councillor Kelly was on about means testing but just comes across very wrong.

I’ve looked up about the Permit schemes and the Welsh Government seem to promote them…so again what is Councillor Bithell on about?? I looked on the Internet and Merseyside, Cheshire, Shopshire are using this type of system so why discount it here? Blinkered.

New ideas should be encouraged and not discounted because they don’t fit in with how the ruling elite think.

Ok…so will we see any of these ideas taken up should the current lot get back in? Have to wait and see but from the way some of them responded Parking fees…no chance, IPad charging….no chance, reduction in the Executive Board not a chance in hell.

Any chance that Councillors whoever they affiliate or represent be allowed to question and debate or challenge?

Rant over….got to stop watching the Webcasts drive me insane.
