But Ellesmere is a town with town amenities! People are willing to pay for that and the mere and all the other facilities that are available. Hardly comparable with some green open space! Will you will be comparing it with Chester next and advocating charges of £4 for 2 hours!

Oh, and yes lets encourage the football club to relocate and discourage unhygenic dogs and their owners. Lets charge people so they go go to Moss Valley, Acton park, Waen-Y-Llyn and Marford Quarry (all free parking and all with about the same level or better amenities) instead for their recreation. Or perhaps they may just not bother, becoming more inactive and generally more unfit / unhealthy.

But each to their own views. In 6 months time it will be interesting to see a FOI request detailing the financial success (or otherwise) of this project.
Not wishing to be rude but you really need to get your facts correct and not talk nonsense. How are the amenities at these places you mention the same level or better than Alyn Waters or Ty Mawr ? Where is the shop/cafe at any of them and more importantly none have toilet facilities. So how in your eyes does this make them better ? And I also think it’s good to discourage unhygienic dogs and their owners, not sure why you have a problem with this.
As for Ellesmere, it is only 10p to park in any of the town car parks to use the town’s amenities for 2 hours BUT it’s a £1 to park at the Mere. That’s 10 times as much and that’s a £1 charge for 2 hours, not all day, which makes the Wrexham charges decent value.

some people used to go there three times a day for the benefit of the above that is 3 pounds.
By three times a day I presume you mean dog walkers ? Surely this is a good thing, it will mean less dog mess to be picked up resulting in a cleaner park for everyone. It’s not as if they contribute anything to the park either other than using the parking facilities.

    Reaches for tin hat.

Don’t you think that it’s ironic that people are willing to pay a lot more than a pound to get there but then object to paying a pound when they’re there ? They best not go to Ellesmere then, it’s £1 for 2 hours parking at the side of the road.

I can’t understand why the council don’t start charging to park at Ty Mawr and Alyn Waters. Visitors are genuinely surprised that they don’t have to pay anything.

£2 a day or a yearly ticket for £50, it’s not a lot and this cost would more than pay for the upkeep of the parks.
The Canal Trust have recently submitted plans for a paid car park at Trevor Basin, it’s ludicrous that the council aren’t doing the same.

What the council is suggesting is that 3 rangers will keep 11 parks open. As the rangers work a 5 day week it will mean that for 6 days a week there will only be 2 of them. How exactly is that going to work ?

The next thing will be closing the parks as there aren’t enough rangers to cover them.
They’ve apologised and said that they’re going to look into the cause of it, not sure what more they can do. Accidents will happen.

Well that’s ok then. A danger to health to the local community, safeguards supposedly in place to ensure this type of thing could NEVER happen, but it just did. However, they’ve apologised, so everything is fine, just carry on as you were.

Would you be saying the same thing if a similar event happened at Sellafield ?

“I know there’s been a leak of nuclear waste which has rained down on the local community but they’ve apologised and accidents will happen……”
