TheDaveParticipantAs of this morning, the nearest available drive-through is Oldham, and there are no walk-through tests or home-test kits available.

wrexviewParticipantWhere has our North Wales testing capacity gone ? Re directed to South Wales because of their spike in cases?
September 8, 2020 at 10:46 am #192532
TheDaveParticipantAha! I have one nearer: Oswestry.

TruthbeknownParticipantWelsh Testing Debacle continues, absolutely unbelievable that at a time when needed and prompted by media and government to be sensible and safe, nearest test site available this morning is 70 miles away in Oldham.
Hypercritical bull from V Gething “We all have a responsibility to stop Coronavirus spreading and protect our communities”. He or the Senedd dont give a hoot about anything or anyone outside South Wales.
Responsibility lies with him to provide capacity for a Welsh local testing facility for me or my family to use when and if required.

JaneJParticipantThis is an an example of how the people of UK have been told a total pack of lies- what happened with statements from Westminster and the Senedd about how the testing capacity and TTP were world leading and more than enough capacity.
Six months since the start of Covid we are no further forward in having a reliable system that can be relied on.
It is no good being promised a system for the winter when we have massive problems now.
The figure for the positive cases must be way too small as so many people who cant access a test are taking a gamble with THIR LIVES and those around them hoping they don’t have Covid.
The Governments should add additional figures when saying number of test and positive cases – they should report on how many people are waiting for tests- then we will start to get a fuller picture.
Why is Wrexham Council not saying anything – they run the TTP services which can’t do it’s job if tests aren’t occurring. We are they not making statements to assure local people.September 11, 2020 at 12:27 am #192738
zingerParticipantMy understanding is that people without symptoms shouldn’t apply for a test unless as part of the track & trace. They are not blanket testing yet.

MattParticipantStupid though isn’t it – don’t get a test if you are asymptomatic but technically you can still be a super spreader and pass it onto everyone. No wonder the numbers are going up.
September 11, 2020 at 6:33 pm #192804
Davej100ParticipantIf you wear a mask you will not be a “super spreader”
September 11, 2020 at 11:02 pm #192808
MattParticipantMasks have already been compulsory in public enclosed spaces such as shops for several weeks in England and that hasn’t stopped the cases from soaring. Also there are a large number of places people are exempt and won’t be wearing a mask where community transmission can occur such as restaurants and pubs, certain workplaces and also schools and when people meet up in private dwellings and share private vehicles within their permitted numbers and bubbles. If you are not showing symptoms then you are still able to transmit the virus.
Logically it is far better to allow testing of these asymptomatic individuals if they are concerned that they came into contact with someone contagious and get them and their networks quarantined if a positive test shows up than rely on everyone masking up properly to prevent transmission. It’s beggar belief that masks alone can stop us from ending up in a second complete lockdown.

JaneJParticipantNO Testing at all for Wrexham residents at the moment-
No drive thru
No walk thru
No postalThis is a clear indication that figures of number of cases cannot be correct- no testing means no results – positive or negative. It looks like 1 in 100 tests are proving positive – this may be low but the level of spread from one person can be very large. It only takes contact with one person to catch the Covid so if you are feeling ill start contacting your Assembly Members and make sure they know what is happening. All of these failings should be something people don’t forget when it comes to Elections in May but remember that the failings in Wales are due to the WG signing up to a totally failing system run by Conservative in Westminster.
