You don’t need qualified staff to run it. Once it’s been set-up it’s as easy as the wi-fi in your own home.

Explains why so many Cllrs drink at Caffe Nero and not at the library! :)

Simple – they don’t. Cafe Nero wifi is provided by The Cloud, part of Sky and one of (if not) the biggest providers around.

Tut. Only 20 years. Fancy nobody foreseeing how technology would change eh Cerys? Didn’t even see Wifi coming. Like the dumb decision to buy typewriters in 1956. That had obsolescence written all over it. Well, typed anyway.

CCTV systems installed 10 years ago would now require updating. Technology moves on very quickly and cameras today are much better than then. Also storage devices have changed, 10 years ago everything was stored on tape but now it’s either hard drive or even Cloud.

They’ve been gaining new equipment since then, paid by grants from the home office and us the council tax payer.

There were only 12 cameras 20 years ago, there are almost five times that now.

It’ll be alright they are contracting with EE for G4 coverage–based on how long the system will be live the Council won’t have to pay much!
