Has anyone else noticed how many vehicles come down Lambpit Street the wrong way? It is a one way street (into town) from the Council Offices car park entrance onwards. It is particularly bad on Mondays, the market traders just ignore the signs, but it happens regularly every day.

Sounds awfull .. are people being allowed to use common sense and driving 50yards down that rather quiet road instead of dodging through the busy pedestrianised area?

Not really, no, they are still going through the busy pedestrianised area, but in the wrong direction. They used to put black bollards up in the gaps in Queens Square, but they seem to be left out now.

I’ve had near scrapes a few times going into town that way and a car coming down the wrong way.
There’s a car parked most morning outside Betfred facing the wrong way.
He must have to go out the wrong way the way he’s facing, one day he’ll meet someone head on.

This practice is common throughout Wrexham in general. I am sure the standard of driving in Wrexham is getting worse every day. Vehicles entering Pedestrian Areas, Restricted Zones, parking in loading bays, Taxi Ranks and on double yellow lines. I feel the problem is down to lack of enforcement. The Civil Enforcement Officers do their best but are unable to enforce Moving Traffic Offences and the Police don’t want to get involved with minor issues.

Or indeed, Black (and blue) cabs and taxis using Duke St as a rat run from King St, instead of using Trinity St as traffic signs require. Or maybe High St as another convenient short cut. Or yet another example, the Police vehicle positioned outside the old Marks and Spencer shop on an almost daily basis.

If you care to study the signs as you attempt to enter Duke Street you will see that it allows Hackney Carriages, both black and BLUE to access that area, it is Private Hire Vehicles that are not allowed to access Duke Street. In addition there is large signage on the road in Duke Street that states “TAXIS AND BUSES ONLY”. That is also the case as you attempt to enter King Street from Regent Street, please get your facts right before posting comments.
