Debate about local administration in Wales starting again, creates inertia and is destructive for the economy and effective public services.

The historic county of Denbighshire seems to have taken foothold in 1535 and had a consistent political and governance process 1889 to 1974. There was Clwyd. Why not go back to 13 counties in Wales, with the county of Denbighshire to its historic geography. Did the values of Denbighshire possibly create a more ‘whole society’ – Denbigh, Ruthin and Wrexham are each known for progressive elements in various parts of the world.

It could be the 7 counties of Wales, but would that be accepted. Surely we don’t want or need tiers in this modern day of communication.

The next change is likely to define us and our children and future generations for 100 years. What will the values of the next county be?
