The popular Wales Comic Con will return to Glyndwr University this weekend.

Now in it’s sixth year, the event has rapidly increased in size and popularity over the past few years. Offering fans and lovers of films, graphic novels and cult television the chance to meet their heroes, the event is the perfect day out for everyone with a keen interest in Sci-Fi.

The event, which is held across various parts of the Glyndwr University campus, will this year see around 50 famous faces from the world of film, television and wrestling take part in the event.

Last year’s Comic Con was the biggest to date, with stars such as Billy Boyd (Lord of the Rings), Warwick Davies (Star Wars), Hannah Spearritt (Primeval) and the cast of Red Dwarf, all signing autographs and taking part in guest question and answer sessions.

This year well known faces such as Jonathan Ross, Shane Richie, Danny John Jules, John Challis and James Cosmo will be in attendance. Along with actors from from shows such as Game of Thrones, Red Dwarf, Torchwood and Doctor Who. There will also be a number of wrestling legends in attendance, and also the chance to meet well known graphic writers and artists.

Founder Jaime Millner told Wrexham.com: “It’s really grown in size from the first year, when there was less than 120 people in the Glyndwr Sports Hall.

“Now we have people flying over from Russia, Japan, Switzerland and the USA.

Over 100 vendors will also be on site selling merchandise, along with a comic book store and an after show party. There will also be the chance for autographs, photo ops and the opportunity to take part in Q&A sessions (last year we sat in on the Star Wars and Red Dwarf sessions, so the sessions are well worth popping in for!)

Jaime added: “We try to get as much in as we can and hopefully people will enjoy it.”

Pre-sale tickets and Early Bird tickets for the convention have already sold out, however you will be able to purchase tickets on the day. Prices are £10 for adults and £5 for under 14s.

More information on Wales Comic Con and the guests in attendance can be found on the Wales Comic Con website here.

Wrexham.com and Wales Comic Con have joined forces to give one lucky person the chance to win a pair of Early Bird tickets for Sunday.
