A 1969 E-Type Jaguar, a fully furnished camper van, a scenic view, fine china and homemade Welsh cakes – just a flavour of what our lucky competition winners got to experience courtesy of Hilltop Classics!

On a crisp, cold Sunday afternoon competition winner Helen Catton and her husband James were picked up from Wrexham.com HQ in and whisked to a secret location to enjoy a fabulous picnic.

Helen, a French teacher at Rhosnesni High School, entered the competition having had a difficult year in which her husband James had been a major strength and support for her. Out of a number of entries we received theirs stood out above all others. This turned out to be a welcome chance to escape for an afternoon and have a bit of extra special time to themselves – and definitely a unique experience!

The E-Type parked outside Wrexham.com offices – the most beautiful car to be seen in Yorke St for a long while!

They left our offices in the E-Type Jaguar which apparently ‘turned heads’ on the way up to the secret location and had been ‘impeccably refurbished’ inside. Helen and James then boarded Molly, a classic 1972 VW Campervan, and enjoyed a picnic overlooking stunning scenery with wine, salads, Welsh cakes, a cheese board, a selection of fruit and more. They were also pleasantly surprised by the heating in Molly!

James said “Most people would think a picnic wouldn’t work at this time of year with it being winter, but with the heating it worked really well.”

The couple were offered a full menu choice before the trip, so everything was to their taste. Helen was impressed with the food on offer “Everything was set up beautifully, we were greeted with a hamper with cheese and biscuits, Welsh cakes with cream, fine crystal and dishes, it really was a posh picnic.”

The couple also pointed out Molly would work well to take out to the beach during the spring or summertime too.

It wasn’t just a first for Helen & James, it was a first for us – our first competition! Keep a look out for more coming your way.

If Helen and James’ lovely afternoon out has got you thinking about hiring out a campervan, perhaps for a long weekend then take a look at Hilltop Classics – who also hire out wedding cars – at www.HillTopClassics.co.uk
