Wrexham Glyndŵr University has risen an impressive 24 places in the Guardian University Guide 2019 and entered the Guardian’s Top 100 Universities in the UK.
Released each year the Guardian University Guide ranks 120 universities from across the UK in areas such as student satisfaction with courses, satisfaction with teachers and a score out of 100 from the Guardian.
Last year’s league table saw some disappointment for Wrexham Glyndŵr University when it slipped down two places from the 2017 list position to 121st and bottom place.
This year has seen a better result for the university, which has risen 24 places and is now ranked 97 with a score of 56 from the Guardian.
The university is also listed in the guide as having 81 points for student satisfaction with courses and 85 points in terms of students being satisfied with teaching.
At Wrexham Glyndŵr, Mechanical Engineering is number one in the UK (up from 27th place in 2018) in terms of course satisfaction and education is number two in the UK (up from fourth place in 2018) for teaching satisfaction.
Five subject areas are number one in Wales for teaching satisfaction, including Health Professions, Accounting & Finance and Computer Science & Information Systems. Seven of the subject areas are top three across Wales overall for Wrexham Glyndŵr.
Wrexham Glyndŵr University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Maria Hinfelaar said: “We’re really pleased to have risen 24 places in the Guardian university league tables which reflects the work we’ve been doing over the last couple of years to transform the university and it’s great to see these results starting to come to fruition.
“We are still a young university, celebrating 10 years of gaining university status this year, and this progress is testament to the hard work and dedication from both staff and students at Wrexham Glyndŵr.
“We are continuing to improve the quality of our teaching and research and are seeing more and more fantastic achievements from our graduates. This is just the beginning for us however and we hope to make our way even further up the league tables in the years ahead.”
