Residents in Holt and the surrounding area are being advised to ensure their sheds and outbuildings are locked following a recent spate of thefts.

Over recent weeks chainsaws in particular have been stolen and with Spring now on the way officers are issuing a timely reminder for residents to ensure they secure their property.

PCSO Alison Heron from the local Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “Garden sheds are often considered low priority when it comes to security and can make easy pickings when it comes to crime.

“People can often be shocked at the value of items that typically get stored in sheds such as tools, cycles and gardening equipment.

“With many sorting out their gardens at this time of year we’d like to take this opportunity to remind residents to ensure their sheds and outbuildings are locked and that any items within are secured. Padlocking large items also make them harder to steal.

“It’s also important that you let police know about any suspicious persons or vehicles, regardless of how insignificant you think it may be.

“Any information provided by the public is greatly appreciated and may lead to the final piece of a jigsaw that allows for a successful prosecution.”

Anybody who may have information regarding the theft of chainsaws in the local area, or who may know if they are being sold onto unsuspecting customers are asked to contact North Wales Police on 101, or via Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
