Staff at a Wrexham care home have headed home to their loved ones for the first time in weeks.

The workers at Orchard Care Group’s home Cherry Tree in Coedpoeth have selflessly lived and worked in the home for the last six weeks in an effort to protect the residents from Covid-19.

Last week marked the end of the remarkable and dedicated lockdown as staff went home to their families.

Gemma Atkins, one of the directors, said: “Words cannot express how very proud and truly grateful we are to these wonderful individuals. Deputy Manager Joanne Mannering and her team are a true inspiration.

“The selfless dedication and commitment displayed over the past six weeks has been amazing.”

She added: “You have loved and cared for our amazing people; kept them safe and well and it will never be forgotten.

“You’re all heroes. A huge thank you for all you have done.”

The home will continue to take every precaution possible to protect residents and staff.
