A ‘social deployment point’ which will provide space for Welsh Ambulance Staff to stand down and take rest breaks during shifts, could be built in Pandy if planning proposals are given the go ahead.

In an application submitted to Wrexham Council it has been proposed that a ‘Portakabin Pacemaker’ mobile building is developed on land next to the Gresford Colliery Club in Pandy.

The application, which has been submitted by the Welsh Ambulance Service consists of a single storey building which will be installed parallel to the Gresford Colliery Club.

Along with the mobile building the existing fence layout will be adjusted to suit the new layout and the marking out of two parking spaces for an ambulance and an ambulance car.

The proposed development will not have any impact to the existing spaces nor the existing entrance of the Grefors Colliery Club.

Details within the application’s Design and Access Statement read: “The unit will act as a Social Deployment Point for the Welsh Ambulance Service which will provide operational staff with a location to stand down and take rest breaks during their shifts without the need to travel much longer distances back to the nearest station.

“This will ensure the staff and resources are positioned closer to the area they will be covering for emergency calls.”

The Gresford Colliery Club, which is located at the bottom of Bluebell Lane in Pandy has been selected due to its position to large residential areas and the fact it is adjacent to the A483 for a quick response to the North Wrexham area.
The application is expected to go before Wrexham Council’s Planning Committee at a later date.
