People to the north of Wrexham, or looking north, have been able to see a large fire or flashing light in the skies.

The flames are coming from Essar Stanlow chimney stack.

The huge ‘flare off’ is creating an eerie pulsating glow into the low cloud cover this evening.

Essar, the owners of Stanlow oil refinery say there are no ongoing incidents at the huge oil refinery.

Cheshire Police said on Twitter: “Stanlow advise us there are no safety issues and the flare will settle down in due course”
