We have been contacted by several people who have reported problems at Wrexham’s Morrisons petrol station, with a rumored issue with the fuel being served.

We have just popped to the forecourt on Ruthin Road and spoken to one affected driver who told us he only managed to get a few metres before conking out.

Several cars were deserted being left broken down in the petrol station, with others being collected from nearby roads.

Several empty cars were parked around the forecourt.

It is not thought to be a fuel mismatch as both petrol and diesel cars appear affected.

The petrol station is open, but did have some pumps closed off.

Steve posted on our forums saying: “My Wife just filled with petrol in Morrisson, as she was paying a Morrissons employee came in telling the lady behind the counter to turn off the pumps.

“When my wife went outside and drove home she encounter several cars that she had seen or followed from Morrisons ‘broken down’ at the side of the road.”

A couple of people on the forums have said they have been in touch with Morrisons, and have posted their replies.

Wrecasm_lad said he contacted Morrisons via Facebook and they replied: “Hi. Thanks for getting in touch. Due to the recent storms, this had caused a small amount of water to enter one unleaded tank. A very small number of customers were affected and we’re supporting them. No other fuel was affected. We hope this helps.”

He later posted another comment from Morrisons stating: “We have notified our Petrol Team who will be contacting the store’s Petrol Manager to ensure the correct information is given to our customers.”

Steve also contacted Morrisons and posted his reply on our forums: “Phoned morrisons… Told me it was a bad batch of petrol delivered this morning. Told to.. Call AA and they will drain for free and put £12 worth in. I can then fill up and clam off Morrisons insurance.”

Earlier this evening we received this tweet outside Morrisons from @TashaG2011

We have asked Morrisons for comment and we are awaiting a reply.
