Man Airlifted To Hospital After Two Vehicle Collision
A man has been airlifted to hospital following a two vehicle collision on the A5 outside Llangollen earlier this afternoon.
Emergency services attended the incident between the White Waters Hotel and B5103 at Berwyn at around 1:15pm.
Llangollen fire tweeted just before 3:30pm to say that a male had been cut free from the wreckage after being trapped by his legs.
Crews used a spreader and a ram to extract the male, who was airlifted to Stoke hospital with head serious injuries.
A second person was treated at the scene but was not taken to hospital.
The A5 near Llangollen was closed for a number of hours while an investigation / removal of debris took place.
Inspector Steve Roberts, force incident manager for North Wales Police said: “Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious road traffic collision that occurred on Sunday, May 11.
“Shortly after 1.15pm, police officers, fire service and ambulance crews attended to a report of a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A5 in Llangollen between the Llangollen bridge and Kings Bridge.
“A male was taken by air ambulance to hospital in Stoke with serious injuries.
“Police continue to investigate the collision and are seeking witnesses.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident or the events leading up to it are urged to contact police on 101 quoting reference R063918.”
