Nightingale House Hospice is inviting people to dedicate a light on their Christmas tree to celebrate the memory of their loved ones as part of the Light up a Life campaign.

Light up a Life is a series of special community events that take place around the UK during November and December each year. It is organised by independent hospices to help families and friends to come together to remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones.

Margaret Hollings, community fundraising manager explained: “Light up a Life provides you with the opportunity to sponsor a light on the Christmas tree at the hospice to celebrate the life and memory of your loved ones.

“If your dedication is for somebody who was not patient at the Hospice, you are still very welcome to dedicate a light for them. The lights will be lit at the Hospice’s special switch on ceremony and willshine until the twelfth night, so you can view them from Chester Road when you pass by at night.”

Nightingale House Hospice’s annual Light up a Life service will take place closer to Christmas this year as it will be held on Friday 16th December in the Hospice grounds at 7pm.

As well as dedicating a light for your loved ones on the hospice’s Christmas tree, which will be switched on at the special service at Nightingale House Hospice, you can also enter the name of your loved one into a special book of memories, which will be available also throughout 2012 in the hospice’s reception area. A special Light up a Life card will be sent to you as a lasting reminder over the season.

Light up services also take place in Bala, Mold, Hanmer, Langollen, Corwen and Connah’s Quay for those who live outside Wrexham or can not attend the hospice’s special service.

“We understand how important Light up a Life is for people. The services are always very emotional, filled with smiles, tears, joy and remembrance.” said Margaret.

You can give donations online by visiting www.treeoflights.co.uk, or downloading a form from the Hospice’s website www.nightingalehouse.co.uk.

You can also ring to request a form by calling 01978 314 292 or you can collect a form from the Hospice itself.
