Girls rugby returns to Wrexham RFC this week for first time in nearly 20 years!

This week sees the return of Girls Rugby to Wrexham RFC for the first time since 2002.

Following on from a successful first season based at Shotton RFC, Valkyries Rugby is now available on two sites with Wrexham serving as the hub for North East Wales from Friday.

It aims provide the opportunity for girls aged between 6-18 from the county to experience the sport.

Teleri Wyn Davies will be in attendance at the Wrexham launch and Molly Kelly in Shotton – both have been involved in the Wales Six Nations setup this last year.

Hub lead Chris Wright said: ‘Last year we were able to create an incredible experience for Girls in North East Wales.

“In our first year alone we had the first three girls to earn a WRU Girl Guiding badge.

“We had girls travel to Cardiff to act as flag bearers for Wales Women and one of our U18s was successful in gain her first caps for RGC Women’s team U18s’

‘Women’s Rugby is one of the fasted growing sports in Wales at the moment. It gives a chance for Girls to stay fit, have fun and make lifelong friends.

“It isn’t just about contact either, we pride ourselves on being different, about offering girls a chance to find their confidence and their inner warrior.”

Sessions start Friday 5th April at 6:30pm at Wrexham Rugby Club and Monday 8th April at 6:30pm at Shotton Rugby Club.
