The fire service attended an incident that affected around four houses on Market Street in Rhos this morning, with cannabis plants recovered.

UPDATE 1:15pm:
Wrexham.com had heard that it was believed that one of the properties was empty and therefore surprise at the fire occurring. Further to this it was locally rumoured that one of the houses was being used as a ‘cannabis factory’.

We queried this with North Wales Police, with Inspector Andy Jones saying this afternoon: “We can confirm that cannabis plants were recovered from a house on Market Street in Rhos following a fire at the address.

“An investigation is ongoing into the cause of the fire and the discovery of the cannabis plants.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crime stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Several fire engines, police and ambulances attended the scene, which resulted in the road being closed off.

Local residents came out to watch the emergency services at work, and Chatwins the bakery brought out coffee and tea to the firemen.
