Wrexham’s Bhs store has this week launched its ‘closing down’ sale.

‘Store closing’ and ‘Save 30%’ signs were put in the windows and doors of the Henblas Street store over the weekend / start of the week.

The closing down sale in the long serving high street retailer comes as a result of the company entering administration back in April 2016.

Duff & Phelps were later appointed administrators for the company, which owns 164 stores across the country.

Despite efforts to find someone to take over the running of the company, in May 2016 Duff & Phelps appointed liquidators after failing to find a buyer for the chain.

Save Bhs

It is estimated that 8000 jobs and 3000 contractual jobs will be lost as a result of the closure.

Bhs stores across the country are expected to closed in the next few weeks.

The closure of Bhs has resulted in much uncertainty locally regarding the future of Henblas Street, which has seen a decline in the number of stores trading in that area over the past few years.

Weeks before Bhs went into administration, the Post Office, also located on Henblas Street launched a public consultation surrounding proposals to move the branch to the first floor of WH Smith on Hope Street.

The result of the public consultation and the future location of the Post Office have yet to be determined.
