Campaigners in Wrexham gathered today to make their voices heard as part of a worldwide movement calling for immediate action to tackle climate change.

Crowds started gathering outside the Guildhall in Wrexham town centre shortly before midday, holding placards and signs emblazoned with ‘There is no Planet B’, ‘Love our Planet’ and ‘Mother Earth is Dying’.

They joined millions of protesters who are participating in the Global Climate Strike – which has seen campaigners from across the world take to the streets demanding that governments take drastic action against climate change.

Today’s action has been inspired by the work of Swedish climate change activist, Greta Thunberg and has seen school children and students walk out of lessons and workers take to the streets.

Locally the group of campaigners – which included people of all ages – marched peacefully through the streets of the town centre to spread their message, before returning to Llwyn Isaf.
