The Association of Voluntary Organisations in Wrexham (AVOW) has announced it will commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day 2021 virtually this year.

Following the successful event last year, AVOW push ahead to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day 2021 and explore this year’s theme ‘Be the Light in the Darkness’ virtually, via Zoom.

The event, on Friday 22nd January, will feature key members of the community discussing themes of diversity and how to be a leading light in the community as we tackle discrimination in our area.

Key speakers on the day will talk on a variety of topics such as how to be the light in the face of discrimination and the reality of living in an unequal society.

Key speakers will include Bishop of Wrexham, RT Rev’d Peter M. Brignal, Lesley Griffiths AM and Wanjiku Mbugua, AVOW Trustee.

Later, in the commemorative event there will be a showing of the poetry workshop held during the year by children from the Gypsy, Roma and Traveler community in Wrexham County Borough.

The event will last one hour on zoom and you can register for the free event at: https://bit.ly/2KiJSLl
