A Wrexham school girl danced her way to the top at a freestyle dancing competition last weekend.

Ysgol Rhiwabon pupil Emma Ballamy was crowned World Champion in the under 14 category at the World Freestyle Championships in Blackpool Winter Gardens.

Emma, 13, from Acrefair has been dancing competitively since she was 8 years old with Dancezone in Cefn Mawr before recently moving to Technique Dance School in Liverpool where she trains three times a week.

Freestyle dance takes its inspiration from Latin and disco dancing and requires a high level of commitment and determination from dancers to compete on a national stage.

Emma has many competition titles under her belt, working her way up to the highest level of Premier Championship which has lead to her qualifying for the English Elite Freestyle dance squad.
