Fancy trying something different this weekend? Brace yourselves as a 100 metre zip wire will be set up in Wrexham for an adventurous one day experience this Bank Holiday.

Thrill seekers in Wrexham are in for a treat on Bank Holiday Monday – with a 100 metre being temporarily installed across Llwyn Isaf.

The zip wire will be in place across the day and will be free to use!

This unique Wrexham event has been brought to the town centre by Destination Wrexham and Snowdonia Active.

The Destination Wrexham Team is a private sector led partnership of local accommodation providers and attractions, with support from Wrexham Council. The team work closely with Visit Wales to develop projects which support businesses and help attract more tourism to the area.

Alongside the zipwire, other activities planned to celebrate Wales’ Year of Adventure include the installation of the Wrexham Sheep trail (maps available from the Tourist Information Centre early June), a new food challenge for local restaurants in the Autumn, the launch of a new website for the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct & Canal World Heritage Site (June) and of course the Tower Climbs at St Giles Parish Church which started in March.

The team are already thinking ahead to the Year of Legends in 2017 and the Year of the Sea in 2018 – with exciting plans already being discussed with Welsh Government.

Speaking about the event, Wrexham County Borough Council’s Destination Manager, Joe Bickerton said: “The Destination Wrexham Team have been working hard alongside Snowdonia Active and Go Below Adventures to bring a range of pop-up activities to the area in celebration of Wales’ 2016 Year of Adventure.

“Following on from the recent abseil at Chirk Castle, a 100m zipwire will traverse Llwyn Isaf on Bank Holiday Monday between 10-4pm.”

Taking part is totally free, but riders of the zipwire must be at least 4ft tall. As there is no pre-booking system, there may be a short queue depending on numbers. No pre-booking will be required and all safety gear and supervision will be in place on the day.

The zip wire will be on Llwyn Isaf on Monday 30th May between 10am and 4pm.
