Yale College led the way at the recent Colleges Wales award ceremony, picking up awards for Outstanding Teaching & Learning, Excellence in Digital Learning and Leadership in Developing Learners’ Skills in Literacy and Numeracy.

Not only did they pick up these three awards, they were shortlisted for three other categories and also achieved the highest weighted success of all further education providers in Wales.

Naturally, Principal Jasbir Dhesi was delighted with the achievements, with the awards being described ‘as the annual Oscars for further education colleges’ :-

“Our sector leading success rates together with these awards confirm that Yale provides excellent teaching and excellent learning opportunities for our students. The exceptional progress made by our learners is down to the dedication of our staff, who are continually challenging themselves to be creative and innovative, supporting our learners to challenge themselves and become active, independent and successful learners.”

Examples of how the college are developing learner engagement include setting up Facebook groups to share advice and tips on construction. Wrexham FC apprentices studying PE are using mobile apps to edit videos and share coaching advice and insight.

Yale is merging with Deeside College on 1st August, with the new logo for the college being released two weeks ago – pictured below:
