Wrexham’s Member of the Senedd raised a mug in support of Macmillan’s Coffee Morning and is encouraging constituents to do the same at her own fundraising event set to take place later this month.

Alongside Welsh Labour’s Parliamentary candidate for Wrexham, Andrew Ranger, Lesley Griffiths MS is hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning on Saturday 21 October.

The event will take place at Acton Community Resource Centre from 10am – 12:30pm.

This year, the cancer charity is celebrating its 33rd annual Macmillan Coffee Morning which sees millions of pounds raised in events organised in homes, schools, workplaces and community spaces.

Ms Griffiths recently joined staff and volunteers from Macmillan Cancer Support in Wales at the Senedd to mark the annual fundraising event.

The event was an opportunity to find out more about how Macmillan in Wales is supporting people living with cancer, as well as meeting with inspirational Macmillan volunteers, fundraisers and professionals.

Lesley Griffiths MS said: “Sadly, cancer affects the lives of so many of us but Macmillan’s flagship fundraiser offers the chance for people to get together every year and collectively raise millions of pounds to help combat the disease.

“Every cup raised supports the charity’s incredible work in Wales so that Macmillan can keep doing whatever it takes to help people living with cancer.

“Most Coffee Morning events took place at the end of September but our event is taking place 21 October.

Every penny counts and if anyone wants to come along and show their support, please email me beforehand so Andrew and I can cater for everybody.”

All are welcome but those wishing to attend are being asked to register by emailing: [email protected] so the organisers have an idea how many people will be there on the day.
