Trains between Wrexham General and Bidston were today replaced by a bus service due to damage to tracks as pictured above.

Arriva Trains said “Due to a collapsed culvert under the railway there will be no trains between Wrexham and Bidston – in both directions – for the rest of today (Wednesday 30th January 2013). A bus service will remain in operation until the end of service today. Tomorrow (Thursday 31st January 2013) there will be an amended timetable in operation with trains operating between Wrexham Central – Penyffordd. Buses will operate from Penyffordd – Bidston (in both directions).”

“The line is expected to re-open for the start of service on Friday 01st February. We apologise for any disruption this may cause to your journey today and tomorrow and will update this site with new information as it becomes available.”

The culvert collapsed on track between Hawarden and Shotton stations.
