Wrexham Sign Two Players: Bakare & Nortei Nortey

Wrexham AFC have announced the signing of Michael Bakare and Nortei Nortey this afternoon.

Both players have joined Gary Mill’s promotion push on one-year deals.

Michael Bakare, who is a 29-year-old midfielder, joins the reds after spending last season with fellow Vanarama National League side Welling United, he can also operate as a striker.

Born in Hackney, London, Michael started his career with Leyton FC who are based in Waltham Forest. He went on to have a first spell at Welling United in 2009. Michael has tasted Conference National football with Macclesfield Town, Southport, Dover Athletic, Braintree Town and of course Welling United during his career. He joined Bury Town to regain his fitness before signing at Welling last season.

Right-back Nortei Nortey on a one-year deal. The 21-year-old defender joins the town after spending last season with National league side Welling United.

Prior to this, he was part of the Chelsea Academy, where he joined relatively late on at the age of 15. He represented the former Premier League Champions at Under-18, Under-18 and Under-21 levels. He was released at the end of his scholarship after five years with the Blue’s and joined both Sheffield Wednesday and Luton Town on trial in 2014.

Shortly after, he joined Maidenhead United briefly before signing with Welling United on non-contract terms in August 2015.

Described as a ‘tenacious full-back’ was born in Hammersmith, London but holds both British and Ghanaian passports.
