Many homes across Wrexham were left without electricity this morning due to a power cut.

Reports about lack of power in the area started coming in just before 8am this morning.

The area that seems to have been largely affected is the town centre, with people reporting lack of power near Bellevue, Erddig Road, Victoria Road and Bersham Road.

There seems to be some confusion to when the electricity will come back on, with some people reporting between 10 and 11am, while others have said they have been told it could be at late as 4pm.

At 8:30am, many homes across the town centre remain without power, with traffic lights on Bradley and Ruthin Road affected. However one person has said the traffic is flowing much better due to the lack of traffic lights.

There were reports at 9:15am that power had been restored to some houses in the town centre.

Phil Rees commented on our facebook page saying it affected “a few businesses too, plus the fire station which was on its emergency power supply. Back on now though.”

Scottish Power have said it was due to a ‘cable fault’ at their Bersham sub-station.
