Wrexham Council has secured properties from a local developer to help provide new homes for those on the housing waiting list.

The properties, located on Maes Gwyrdd in Gwerysllt, are two bedroom and have a lounge, kitchen diner, downstairs toilet, plenty of storage, a driveway and a secure spacious garden.

This is the first purchase of its kind for Wrexham Council, which is delivering a Build and Buy Programme which includes also, buying back ex-local authority properties, building new council housing and working with developers to provide social housing on new build developments.

Lead Member for Housing, Cllr David Griffiths, said purchasing the properties “is a new step for the council and we hope to deliver many new houses in the future.”

He continued: “We are very proud to be working in partnership with local developer, Gower Homes, to provide new homes for our tenants.”

Michael Forgrave, managing director of Gower Homes said: “It’s a pleasure to be working with Wrexham Council on this project to provide high quality social housing, to support the local community.”

Cllr Gwenfair Jones, local member for Gwersyllt West added: “The properties at Maes Gwyrdd will provide lifetime homes for our tenants.

“I am proud to have these new build houses in my ward, which will soon be filled with tenants from our Housing Waiting List.”
