Players from recently promoted Wrexham AFC Women’s first team will lead Nightingale House Hospice’s flagship fundraising Midnight Walk.

Back for its 15th year, the walk on June 24 will bring together hundreds of people from across the community – all there for different reasons, but united by one cause – to raise funds for patient care.

Starting at midnight from Llwyn Isaf, Wrexham, supporters will walk along a designated route around the town, lighting up the streets with glow merchandise.

This year, walkers can choose between a 10k or a 5k route, both of which will be manned by hospice volunteers, encouraging the fund raisers along the way.

Joining them will be the Wrexham AFC Women’s first team, who will lead the event.

Gemma Owen, Head of Women’s Football Operations at Wrexham AFC said: “We are very privileged and honoured to be supporting Nightingale House again and the incredible work they do to raise vital funds to provide important care.

“Our players and staff are looking forward to be leading the walk from the start line and getting to meet as many people taking part as possible.”

Registration will open at 9pm, with the walk starting when the clock strikes midnight. Before the event, walkers will enjoy live entertainment. All Midnight Walk participants who raise over £200 sponsorship will be entered into a prize draw to win a Framed Wrexham AFC Shirt signed by Kelly Jones, lead singer of Stereophonics. (T&Cs apply)

The event is open to everyone over the age of 12. Registration is £20 per person.

Those who take part will receive a Midnight Walk T-shirt, a reusable Nightingale water bottle with a hot drink and breakfast bar on completing the walk.

Elise Jackson, Event and Campaigns Manager at Nightingale House Hospice said: “We cannot wait to be joined by Wrexham AFC Women’s team at this year’s Midnight Walk.

“As we saw with the recent bus parade they will be bringing the championship winning party atmosphere to the streets of Wrexham.

“It will be a great opportunity to show your support for the team and for the hospice all in one night.

“If you haven’t already registered, you can still do so on our website and there is still plenty of time to raise your sponsorship to support the hospice. Please do join us in making the Midnight Walk 2023 bigger and brighter than ever before.”
