A musical event in aid of a Wrexham based mental health charity will take place this weekend.

On Saturday ‘WrexFactor’, a musical competition will take place in aid of Advance Brighter Futures – a Wrexham based charity that provides support for those living with mental health problems.

The show takes place this Saturday at Maesgwyn Hall, where 13 solo singers will take to the stage.

WrexFactor, which has been organised by Mark Randles and mental health campaign Fi-Motivation, aims to find singers in Wrexham who have the WrexFactor.

Fi-Motivation will donate proceeds from the night to Wrexham-based Advance Brighter Futures (ABF).

ABF manager Lorrisa Roberts said: “Mark Randles and the Fi-Motivation team are doing a lot for mental health and well-being in Wrexham and we’re very fortunate to have them on board. Who needs X Factor when you’ve got WrexFactor?”

Wrexham band Off Access are to judge the 13 solo singers and the winner will get the chance to team up with them to record a new track which will later be aired on Glyndwr University-based radio station, Calon FM.

Mark Randles said: “I want the winner to have the chance to write a song- it gives them further opportunities to do what they want to do.”

Mark visited ABF earlier in the year and told them of his vision of improving mental health services in Wrexham.

He said he wanted to do this by launching a series of eye-catching events.

“These events have to be something a little bit different. No one’s going to pay attention if we just run the same old things everybody has seen before.” Mark added.

Tickets are £8 and the show runs from 7.30pm to 12.00am.
