An appeal for witnesses has been launched after an elderly woman sustained serious injuries following a collision in a Wrexham car park.

Police say that shortly before 1:30pm on Saturday 2nd June they received a report that a car had collided with a pedestrian in the Homebase carpark on Plas Coch Road.

An ambulance was called and the pedestrian, who is aged in her 80’s, was taken to the Maelor Hospital with what is described as serious injuries.

PC Emma Birrell of the Roads Policing Unit said: “We know there were a lot of people in the area on the day as it was the same day as the Stereophonics concert in the town.

“I am appealing to anybody who may have witnessed the collision which involved a red-coloured Peugeot 3008, to contact us as soon as possible in order to assist with the ongoing investigation.”

Anybody with information is asked to contact the Eastern Roads Policing Unit on 101 or via the live web chat quoting reference number W073098.
