Residents are being urged to ensure their windows and doors are locked and secure after a series of attempted break-ins over the weekend.

Police have received reports of three separate incidents in the Colwyn Road, Bright Street and Peel Street areas of town.

A thief attempted to gain entry to a house in Peel Street by trying a door handle at around around 4:45am and a house in nearby Bright Street around 5:10am today.

Nothing was stolen, but pots were damaged in one backyard.

Sgt Steve Arnold said: “We’re asking residents to ensure that their windows and doors are locked and secure – and that valuables are hidden away out of sight.

“There is an ongoing investigation into these incidents and we would ask residents to contact us with any further information.”
