Warning issued over fake £50 notes

PC Thomas Hough published the above image of fake fifty pound notes doing the rounds in Wrexham.

He warned: “Please don’t accept or change notes of high denomination for small items.”

The new alert comes two weeks after we were first alerted to similar notes being passed for low value purchases – with a bottle of beer being attempted to be purchases via a fifty pound note.

Further warnings have emerged from retailers in the town centre with Wrexham CCTV operators saying two days ago: “Please could all Business be are aware that we have been made aware that a male and female have just tried to pass a fake scottish £50 pound note in @wrexham town centre”
