Train Services Return to Normal After Lorry Strikes Penyffordd Bridge
Rail services between Shotton and Wrexham General were temporarily delayed this morning after a vehicle struck a bridge.
The Wrexham to Bidston train service was halted shortly before 10am this morning after a lorry struck a bridge near Penyfforrd. As a result of the incident the road remained blocked for almost three hours, while buses were provided to passengers due to travel on that line.
Rail operators tweeted to say: “The bridge needs to be examined to make sure there is no damage and that it is safe for trains to run. Until this has been done, trains will be unable to run between Shotton and Wrexham General.”
North Wales Police have since tweeted to say that the lorry driver had been issued a £100 fine for careless driving and the below photos of the incident / vehicle were also tweeted.
