Registration For Ladies Midnight Walk Closes Tonight!

Grab your tutu’s and dust off your tiaras because there is still time to sign up for this weekend’s Ladies Midnight Walk. 

Now in its ninth year the Ladies Midnight Walk, held in aid of Nightingale House Hospice will take place on Saturday 20th June; raising vital funds for the Hospice.

This incredible local cause has to fundraise tirelessly in order to provide special palliative care services to patients in the North East Wales region, who are living with the effects of a life limiting illness. The hospice doesn’t just look after the patient, but their family, carers and friends too.

This year it is hoped that £50,000 will be raised for the hospices vital specialist palliative care services, which are offered to communities across Wrexham.

Margaret Hollings, from Nightingale House Hospice said: “The hospice apologises in advance for any disruptions during the course of the night and appreciates everybody’s patience. The Ladies Midnight Walk is in its ninth year in Wrexham and remains the largest fundraiser for Nightingale House Hospice.

“Anybody who lives along the route are more than welcome to come out and spur our midnight challengers on.”

On the night will be a special glow lantern display. Walkers will be invited to participate by decorating their own special lantern bag in advance and bringing it with them. The glowing lantern bags will be added to a special display on the band stand ready for midnight (glow sticks to be provided on the night).

Due to the nature of the event there will also be a number of temporary road closures will also be in place, which includes the junction of Chester Street and Lambpit Street to the junction of Chester Road and Rhosnesni Lane.

A spokesperson for Wrexham Council said: “This is a rolling closure is to allow all participants to walk safely from the start of the event at Llwyn Isaf to Rhosnesni Lane, by which time, based on previous years, the participants will be able to continue the walk in an orderly fashion without the need for further closures.”

Registration for the event closes at 10pm tonight – so there is still time to get involved and raise money for Nightingale House Hospice!

The price per participant is £15 which includes a special 20th Anniversary tee shirt, a cupcake and cuppa on return from the walk, 10km and 6km optional routes, a fully marshalled route, lantern bag and goody bag.  To register, please visit www.ladiesmidnightwalk.co.uk or call 01978 314292.
