A group of young people who helped build a forest school for a Wrexham nursery have been praised by the town’s MP.

Wrexham MP Ian Lucas called in to the Caia Park Partnership to attend a celebration event for the innovation project. The project, which ran for twelve weeks, worked with young people from the area to help provide a Forest School for Sparkles Nursery.

The event, held jointly by Groundwork, Communities First, JCP and Communities for Work, marked the success of the project – and helped to launch a new project for over 25s at the same time.

Mr Lucas said: “Projects like this help make a difference to people’s lives. They obviously benefit the youngsters who will use the forest school – but they also make a real difference to the young people who helped to build it.

“Chatting to the lads during my visit, it was clear they had hugely benefitted from the project. They have given something of value to the local community, and some may also have picked up the idea of being landscape gardeners in the future. It was clear, too, that taking part had boosted their confidence and enthusiasm.

“I’d like to thank everyone involved for helping to make this project happen – and for inviting me along to see it.”
