Patrols at Targeted Hot Spots Result in £75 Fine For Early Morning ‘Litterbug’

Early morning litter patrols have cost one litterbug a £75 fine after they were caught not using a bin recently in the Marchwiel area.

Enforcement Officers acting on behalf of Wrexham Council have been working out of hours in targeted hot spot areas that have been reported to them by concerned residents.

Wrexham Council has pledged to crackdown on those who drop litter or allow their dogs to foul. Reports are being received from across the county borough.

The early morning patrol also saw some very responsible dog owners picking up after their dog had fouled and handed out Bin it to Win it cards. The card has a question on the back relating to the cost of cleaning the streets in Wrexham.

One person a month will receive a £50.00 worth of shopping vouchers from Kingdom Enforcement.

Ashley Houston-Birch for Kingdom, said: “On this occasion the fine was issued in a street that had been highlighted to us as having a particular problem. I hope residents keep letting us know of these hotspots and we will do our best to patrol them and catch those responsible”

Earlier this month Wrexham.com reported that over £23,000 in fines had been issued in December 2016 to those caught littering and letting their dogs foul.

More recently Wrexham Council issued a no-nonsense message and pledged to crackdown on those who refuse to pick up after their dog fouls.

Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for the Environment and Transport, said: “Littering and dog fouling continues to rank high amongst residents concerns for the environment in which we live.

“We will now be looking for those responsible all hours of the day and those who are caught will be fined £75.00.

“I would like to thank all those who continue to report littering and dog fouling issues to us.”

Enforcement Officers will continue to work throughout the county borough out of hours, particularly in areas where littering or dog fouling is brought to their attention.
