Over 1700 Have Say in Wrexham Council Budget Consultation
Over 1700 residents have had their say on Wrexham Council’s proposed budgets cuts for the next financial year.
The Difficult Decisions consultation launched back in September and asked members of the public how they would make savings of an estimated £15.5million in the next twelve months.
Now that the Difficult Decisions consultation has been completed all councillors will have the chance to look at the findings in more detail next week.
The response to the survey has been higher than previous budget consultations, with over 1700 participating and having their say on the proposed budget cuts. Now the responses have been collated and the data has been analysed, the process now moves onto the next stage.
All elected members have been invited to a workshop on Wednesday, 1st December. This is before the Welsh Government announces the Council’s financial settlement on 9th December.
Any recommendations on the budget will be made at a meeting of the Executive Board in January 2016, with decisions agreed at the Full Council meeting in February.
Cllr Hugh Jones, Lead Member for Place – Communities & Partnerships said: “We are grateful to the public for the tremendous support they have given to the Difficult Decisions consultation and the time they took to complete the survey and give us their views.
“It is important that members now have an opportunity to look at the results in detail and give them due consideration, which will help us inform the Council’s choices for the next phase of its financial planning. Until we have considered all the feedback, reviewed our allocated budgets from the Welsh Government and assessed the full impact of what we may need to save, it would be premature to offer comments on particular areas at this time.
“We have made a commitment to look at all the suggestions and comments and we will certainly be doing that over the coming weeks.”
