An annual ceremony that brings people together to celebrate the lives of loved ones, will take place in December.

“Light up a Life”, which is held by Nightingale House, will see the hospice lights will go out and dedication lights lit on the Christmas tree just outside the hospice in Wrexham.

This year’s event will take place on Sunday 15th December and those taking part can remember loved ones who have passed away by sponsoring a light on the hospice Christmas tree ahead of the service.

The event is for everyone, not just for patients and their families.

People are welcome to join hospice staff for a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie before the service.

The Nightingales, the hospice’s own choir will sing a selection of songs as will children from Ysgol Deiniol, Marchwiel.

The Wrexham service takes place at 4.30pm and there will be other services in communities in the region.

These will be at Christ Church, Bala at 7pm on 1 December; St Andrew’s Church Connah’s Quay at 5pm on 1 December; St Chad’s Church, Hanmer at 6.30pm on 5 December and St Collen’s Church, Llangollen at 6.30pm on 6 December.

Delyth Underwood from the hospice said: “We are grateful to everyone who dedicates a light in memory of their loved one and also to everyone who attends one of our services.

“These donations make a huge difference to everyone at the hospice and enables our medical team to continue to help our patients who need specialist palliative care.

“I am overwhelmed by the generosity of people living in my community and the support they give – it is wonderful to see.”

To make a dedication and donation, people can complete a form or go online by visiting the hospice’s website.
