Wrexham police have announced the launch of a series of initiatives aimed at making Wrexham town centre an even safer place to enjoy a night out.

At the recent Nightsafe meeting, Sergeant Wycherley advised that late night revellers will soon see an increase in the number of officers patrolling the night time economy.

Additionally, officers will be actively assisting premises door staff to ensure underage patrons, or those intoxicated, are refused entry.

Additional measures include the use of dogs trained to sniff out drugs, and a pro-active approach to stamping out anti-social behaviour, which often leads to incidents as the night progresses.

Insp Mark Williams said: “Working closely with our partners Wrexham Council and licensees, these measures are being introduced to ensure Wrexham remains a safe place to socialise in the evening.”
