Police helped remove an individual from a town centre shop roof this morning, after Gerrards The Bakery was broken into nearby.

The man had climbed on to the roof of Caffe Nero on the corner of Queens Square and appeared unhappy at being asked to climb down by police.

The incident took place before 6am this morning, with a brief stand off before the man was talked down by police.

We are told the incident was over very quickly, and the man involved was not hurt.

Just before 6am local police tweeted that a man had been ‘found’ on the roof of a bakery in town, and had been arrested. The door to Gerrards Bakery around the corner was smashed, with damage visible this morning.
