Wrexham Council will close the majority of its office buildings between Christmas and New Year.

The local authority will scale down services over the festive period due to low demand and the cost of keeping buildings open.

Critical services will continue to operate, including housing repairs and support, highways and environment emergency response teams, and certain social care services – although some will be scaled down.

This year the council will close its offices at Lambpit Street, Crown Buildings and Ruthin Road around midday on Friday, December 22.

These will remain closed until Tuesday, January 2.

The Guildhall will close for everything apart from Registration Services – which will be open on December 27, 28 and 29 so people can continue to register births, deaths and marriages.

Contact Wrexham, based in Wrexham Library, will close from Friday 22 December at 12pm and will reopen Tuesday 2 January 2024.

A spokesperson for Wrexham Council said: “By closing these buildings the Council will make some efficiencies in gas and electricity costs.”
